CCXL Summer CX Series – new for Summer 2022.
To get your mind and body prepared for the coming Cyclocross season, CCXL will be hosting a 4 x race summer series starting mid July 2022. The events will be smaller pop up events compared to the standard weekend CCXL races that you’re used to simply meaning less riders but with the same racing, timing, awesome courses with added fun and a relaxed atmosphere. The dates are:
Course open from 4:45
U8/10/12 Race start 5:20 – 5:35
Wave 1 Adult 5:35 – 6:10
Sighting Lap 6:15 – 6:35
Wave 2 – Youth 6:40 – 7:00
Sighting Lap 7:00 – 7:20
Wave 2 Adult 7:20 – 7:55
Each of the 4 races will be designed by a different CCXL club, each with their own different twists, even down to the playlist pumping at the start line. There will be food trucks from Belgian Frites. Electronic timing provided by the ‘Daft Punk’ of digital race timing – ‘Bony’. (Bill & Tony) and a beer tent with some tunes to get us all into that horizontal chillaxed atmosphere.
The race will generally be the same as any other CCXL race, a gridding area, start and finish line, and the course marked out with tape (maybe not all of it). The summer series races are evening races with 2 waves across the entire session. There is an U8/10/12 race starting at 5:20. The U12s go off first and then the U8/10s. If you / your children are thinking about on coming get them to bring along a friend !
There is 2 adult waves (including Junior riders), the first at 5:35 and the second at 7:20 .The youth race will be sandwiched in between the adult races at 6:40
Please try and race in the same wave every week, as these are the riders you are racing against, to get an overall series position you need to race 3 of the 4 rounds.
Races need to be entered by 11:55pm on the Sunday evening prior to the Wednesday via BC system link can be found above to each round. You can enter on the day but you won’t be gridded and you’ll be starting from the back and paying more, but obviously we always do entry on the night !”!
Gridding will be carried out by George, age 14, based on a theory only he knows so don’t start crying if you think you should be closer to the front, he’s doing his best (its his IT Project homework)
The cost to race for an adult is £10 and a Youth (U14/16) is £4. The U8/10/12 is £3 ALL of the money raised will be invested back into CCXL to purchase timing chips for the season, this drastically reduces the cost of hosting a race.
8:35 onwards, socialized, grab a beer / AF beer, chill, chat with friends, check out the big screen for your race position or even help us take the course down.
