CCXL Summer CX Series – NEW for the Summer 2023 season
To get your mind and body prepared for the coming Cyclocross season, CCXL will be hosting a 4 x race summer series starting mid July 2023. The events will be smaller pop up events compared to the standard weekend CCXL races that you’re used to simply meaning less riders but with the same racing, timing, awesome courses with added fun and a relaxed atmosphere. The dates are:
Course open from 5:20
Wave 1 – 5:45 start (Adults first, U14/U16 start 60 seconds after)
Wave 2 – Sighting Lap 6:30
Wave 2 – 6:50 start (Adults first, U14/U16 start 60 seconds after)
7:30pm course tear down, please stay and help for 15 mins to take the course down if you can.
The race will generally be the same as any other CCXL race, a gridding area, start and finish line, and the course marked out with tape (maybe not all of it). The summer series races are evening races with 2 waves across the entire session. Each of the 2 waves consisting of a youth race and a mixed adults / juniors race, the format, stolen from the successful Ashwell series works well, and means you can race according to what time you get home etc.
The adults and juniors will start at the front and the Youth riders will start 1 min behind. The adults will be mixed gridding, if you have a preference to start at the back please let the organiser know or simply slot in when all the names have been called.
Please try and race in the same wave every week, as these are the riders you are racing against, to get an overall series position you need to race 3 of the 4 rounds.
Each race will last 30 mins plus 1 lap.
Races need to be entered by 23:55 on the Sunday evening prior to the Wednesday. You can enter on the day but you won’t be gridded and you’ll be starting from the back.
Gridding will be carried out by George, age 15, based on a theory only he knows so don’t start crying if you think you should be closer to the front, he’s doing his best (its his IT Project homework). It will be mixed adults and juniors, then the U14/ U16s will start 60 seconds after.
The cost to race for an adult (>16y/o) is £10 (£11 for non affiliates) and a Youth (U14 / U16) is £4 (£5 for non affiliates). ALL of the money raised will be invested back into CCXL to purchase timing chips and a timing system for the season, this drastically reduces the cost of hosting a race.
