CCXL Summer CX Series – new for Summer 2022.
To get your mind and body prepared for the coming Cyclocross season, CCXL will be hosting a 4 x race summer series starting mid July 2022. The events will be smaller pop up events compared to the standard weekend CCXL races that you’re used to simply meaning less riders but with the same racing, timing, awesome courses with added fun and a relaxed atmosphere. The dates are:
Each of the 4 races will be designed by a different CCXL club, each with their own different twists, even down to the playlist pumping at the start line. There will be food trucks from Street Food MK, with a different theme every week. Electronic timing provided by the ‘Daft Punk’ of digital race timing – ‘Bony’. (Bill & Tony) and a beer tent with some tunes to get us all into that horizontal chillaxed atmosphere.
The race will generally be the same as any other CCXL race, a gridding area, start and finish line, and the course marked out with tape (maybe not all of it). The summer series races are evening races with 2 waves across the entire session. Each of the 2 waves consisting of a youth race and a mixed adults race, the format, stolen from the successful Ashwell series works well, and means you can race according to what time you get home etc.
Please try and race in the same wave every week, as these are the riders you are racing against, to get an overall series position you need to race 3 of the 4 rounds.
Races need to be entered by 23:55 on the Sunday evening prior to the Wednesday via the Race Results system (not BC system) link can be found here. You can enter on the day but you won’t be gridded and you’ll be starting from the back.
Gridding will be carried out by George, age 14, based on a theory only he knows so don’t start crying if you think you should be closer to the front, he’s doing his best (its his IT Project homework)
The cost to race for an adult is £10 and a “Yunior” is £4 and you pay when you book through the Race Results system. ALL of the money raised will be invested back into CCXL to purchase timing chips for the season, this drastically reduces the cost of hosting a race.
8:35 onwards, socialized, grab a beer / AF beer, chill, chat with friends, check out the big screen for your race position.
